As a technical and content support system for North Carolina Cooperative Extension, our faculty and staff actively develop, deliver, and evaluate extension-based outreach and engagement programs for North Carolinians – and the world.
Faculty of the Department of Youth, Family, and Community Sciences carry out the land-grant mission in youth and family programming, with a focus on continuing the legacy of quality training for field faculty across the state.
Our department continues to seek new delivery strategies as needs and capacity within North Carolina change and are developing national models for content delivery and behavior change.
Our faculty have a long history of successful resource development from a variety of sources. With over $5M in funding for 2013 and over $18M in multi year commitments, our faculty are among the most successful in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences in grants awarded. Our faculty also contribute to the scholarship of youth, families, and communities as evidenced by numerous papers published in the peer-reviewed literature, presentations at national meetings, and invited presentations in the US and internationally.
